Mendon fell at home 61-41 against Cassopolis in boys basketball Friday. The Rangers are now 6-0 atop the Southwest 10 Conference South Division while the Hornets are 1-5.
“Tough one to the the number one team in the league tonight,” said Mendon coach Danny Schragg. “The kids played so hard, and never gave up but the second half (Cassopolis) just hit some shots and forced us into some bad turnovers and were able to pull away.”
Overall, the Hornets fall to 6-10 and the Rangers improve to 12-4.j
“We played a very solid defensive first half and held them to only 18 points through two quarters and went into halftime tied at 18,” added Schragg. “Ryder (Gorham) hit three 3’s in the first half which gave us a big spark and Noah Roberts made some big plays in the second half offensively for us but foul trouble forced us into some unwanted situations late in the game. Tough half for us but we played tough all night.”
Up next, Mendon travels to Tekonsha Tuesday and Cassopolis hosts White Pigeon Thursday.
