The Blades of Southwest Michigan are one win away from a perfect regular season within SWMHSHL games after Wednesday’s 9-0 blowout against Kalamazoo United.
The league champs picked up four first period goals and five in the second, including five powerplay goals. Schoolcraft junior Parker Lawrence was involved on all but one score, getting five goals and three assists. White Pigeon’s Blaine Shafer added three goals and three assists and Three Rivers’ Jaxon Dobrowolski notched five assists.
Loy Norrix’s Parker Remelius stopped 33 shots in defeat for United. Vicksburg’s Jack Tomer only needed eight saves for the shutout.
Kalamazoo United falls to 1-8 in SWMHSHL play and 1-17-1 overall. They close regular season play in the first game of Saturday’s tripleheader, facing Portage Northern at 1:30 p.m. ET.
The Blades improve to 33-8-0-1 and 9-0 in the league standings, looking to become the first team to run the table since Portage Central in 2014-15.
