Kalamazoo Valley hosted Jackson College Thursday in the best-of-three quarterfinal round of the NJCAA Region 12 baseball tournament. The Cougars claimed game one 9-2, followed by a 6-5 Jets win in game two. As a result, a winner-take-all third game is set for 2 p.m. ET Friday at KVCC.
In game one, Kalamazoo Valley saw a strong complete game pitching performance by Michael Dunkelberger, who allowed two runs (one earned) and seven hits over seven innings. Aaron Sexton and Carson Price each homered for KVCC and Mitchell Begeman had three hits for two runs and two RBI.
In game two as the official home team, Jackson got a walk-off win on a sacrifice fly by Dominic VanDoorne, scoring Devon Nettles. VanDoorne had four RBI in the victory.
Kalamazoo Valley (18-10) hosts Jackson (31-12-1) in the decisive third game at 2 p.m. Friday.
