Colon won the District #117 baseball championship at Mendon Saturday, defeating the Hornets 6-3 in the championship game. In the semifinals, the Magi downed Burr Oak 16-0 and the Hornets dropped White Pigeon 16-3.
Chris Frye pitched three perfect innings in the blowout win over the Bobcats, striking out four. Brandon Crawford and Mickey Barkman each had three runs and two RBI.
The Hornets saw four runs, four hits, and three RBI from Connor Oatley. Caiden Adams scored four runs and Isaac Conklin had four hits.
Mendon had the opening run in the first inning, followed by the Magi getting the lead with two runs in the second and another two in the third.
The Hornets scored twice in the third to get within one, but were unable to tie the game. Colon added two runs of cushion in the seventh.
Mickey Barkman struck out eight over six innings for the Magi, allowing six hits, three runs (one earned), with one walk. Barkman also doubled twice.
Colon moves to the regional semifinal game at Mendon Wednesday at 5 p.m. against Pittsford.
