Comstock flattened Olivet 66-42 Thursday evening for their seventh win of the season and 14th consecutive home victory. All-state senior Daisy Ansel had another big night offensively, nearly outscoring the Eagles on her own with a 37 point performance.
The Colts opened with a 6-0 run, followed by a 4-0 response by Olivet. Comstock would close the quarter on an 11-3 advantage, getting 14 of their 17 points in the frame by Ansel. A 13-5 second quarter put the Colts ahead 30-12 into the halftime break. Comstock’s highest-scoring quarter came from a 24-point third, putting the game out of reach.
Ansel’s 37 came on 12 field goals, four three-pointers, and one free throw. Abby House threw in 12 points, making four triples of her own. Miranda Barnes topped the Eagles with 10.
Olivet falls to 4-4 overall and hosts Leslie Tuesday, who currently holds the top record in the Greater Lansing Activities Conference.
Comstock moves to 7-1 and travels to Parchment Friday for first place in the BCS-Red, as both teams sit at 3-0 in league play. After that, the Colts host a strong Plainwell team Tuesday.
