District wrestling tournaments took place around Michigan Saturday with the top four finishers in each weight class advancing onto the regional tournaments next week. Six St. Joseph County schools had at least one wrestling secure a spot in the regional round. In total, 34 county wrestlers advanced with 11 individual district champions.
In Division 4, District 32 was hosted by Schoolcraft with White Pigeon and Centreville among the teams in attendance.

Eight Chiefs and two Bulldogs were regional qualifiers. White Pigeon’s Mazzy Lambert took second at 106 pounds. Third place Chiefs were Nate Irwin (190), Drew Johnson (120), and Evan Rudloff (150). Taking fourth from WP were Chaz Underwood (285), Hunter Pant (113), Gavin McGrady (132), and Caleb Lane (165).
Centreville’s qualifiers were Noah Brooks, taking second at 138; and Owen Taylor, third at 157.

Elsewhere in Division 4, Bronson hosted District 31 where Mendon and Colon competed. Three Hornets advanced, while the Magi didn’t have a qualifier.
Mendon’s Noah Iobe earned district champion honors at 285. Caleb King (132) and James Lux (175) both took fourth place. Colon’s closest was Charles Wagner, who got to the quarterfinal at 150.

District 23 in Division 3 was hosted by Constantine and featured Three Rivers among other teams. 10 Falcons and 10 Wildcats punched their tickets to the regional and both teams had five district champions apiece.
Picking up a district championship from Constantine were Brody Jones at 144 pounds, Julian Hawthorne at 175, Troy Demas at 190, Bennett VandenBerg at 215, and Bear Geibe at 126. Taking second was Gregg Reed (285) with a third for Preston Like (120) and fourth place finishes from Jace Vavul (113), Collin Featherstone (132), and Carter Godfrey (165).
Earning gold medals from Three Rivers were Louis Smith (150), Jeremiah Detwiler (157), Jacob Reynolds (285), Talan Flowers (120), and Ayden Keller (132). Silver medals went to Lloyd Ruesink (190), Jak Monroe (113), and Landon Moreland (144). Fourth place finishes went to Jaxon Smith (175), and Carter Hensley (126).

Sturgis competed at Division 2, District 13 hosted by Harper Creek. One Trojan advanced to the regional as Kaiden Waldron placed fourth at 132 pounds.
