2022 Boys Golf Regional Results

June 2, 2022 By Jordan Slocum

Boys golf regional tournaments were held this week across Michigan.   Three Rivers and Sturgis were among the squads at Regional #9 from Stonehedge North.  Gull Lake was the team champion at 314, followed by Mattawan at 322 and Vicksburg at 330.  The Trojans was seventh at 346 and the Wildcats 16th at 374.

Individually, TR’s Garron Gahan placed 10th at 80, three strokes off the individual qualifying mark.  One behind him was Sturgis’ Hayden Goodman in 12th and Austin Sanford 15th at 83.

“I was very happy for Garron that he shot such a great round to wrap up his high school career,” said Wildcats coach Patrick Kline.  “I would have loved to see him qualify, but he had a good day, nonetheless.  Today was much like most of the season where we have a struggled to put four solid scores together on the same day.  That lack of consistency has been our Achilles heel most of the year.”

Rounding out the field for Three Rivers was Caleb Quake and Phillip Wellman at 95, Nick Melville at 104, and Isaac Adams at 106.  Sturgis also saw an 88 from Graeme Herald, a 94 by Luc Vander Hulst, and Charlie Frost’s 101.  Gull Lake’s Bryce Wheeler was the individual champion at 71.

Burr Oak’s Flavio Hernandez was the top local competitor, taking 20th place with a 93.  Rounding out the Bobcats was Ethan Lindsey (127), Austin Cole (142), and Branson Hernandez (165).
