The Centreville offense finally came alive Thursday night but the end result were 4-0 and 8-7 losses at Quincy in varsity baseball action.
Seth Chiddister took the loss in the opener after tossing five innings with six hits and three earned runs allowed. He registered six strikeouts and two walks. Derek Gleaton pitched the sixth and truck out one.
Quincy scored two runs in the first inning and two in the fifth.
Kyzer Bowen had Centreville’s only a hit, a double.
In Game 2, Quincy broke a 7-7 tie in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI, walk-off single.
Jared Spencer started for the Bulldogs and went five innings with three hits and one earned run allowed. He struck out six and issued one walk. Gleaton recorded an out in the sixth and gave up two hits and an earned run. He struck out one and walked one. Alex Meyer finished the game and was responsible for three hits and two earned runs.
Both teams scored three runs in the first inning and Centreville took a 4-3 lead in the third and tacked on two more in the fourth for a 6-3 advantage. Quincy rallied with two runs in the sixth and three in the third. Quincy finished the game with eight hits.
Nick Weber was 2-for-3 for the Bulldogs with a pair of RBI. Spencer singled and drove in two runs.
