Gull Lake grabs SMAC win at Loy Norrix
The Blue Devils of Gull Lake defeated Kalamazoo Loy Norrix 54-22 Wednesday in Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference competition.
Gull Lake won the first two weight classes by void for a 12-0 lead before Loy Norrix won the next three matches. For the Knights, Chase Thomas beat Payton McDurman 13-5 at 119 pounds, Jake Wayman edged Jacob Ragotzy 15-11 at 125, and Bryce Cooper pinned Zack Girten in 4:50 at 130.
The Blue Devils regrouped with Dakota Omen’s pin against Ismael Enriquez in 2:51 at 135 pounds, and Jason McMann’s pin in 1:23 versus Kelvin Thomas at 140.
Loy Norrix rattled off wins at 145 and 152, respectively, when Leo Gallasso beat Jeremiah Smith by technical fall, and Roy Britney beat Josh Wiley 18-7.
But Gull Lake would run away with the win by sweeping the final five bouts. Ryan Wakley (160) pinned Lucas Figueroa in the third period, Jacob Wiley also earned a pin at 171 in the opening minute, John Howe (189) won by fall in the first period, and Loy Norrix forfeited at both 215 and 285.

Mendon claims Southwest 10 title
Mendon wrapped up a Southwest 10 Conference wrestling title Wednesday with a 63-6 victory over host Cassopolis and a 49-30 win against Bloomingdale.
“This was a great evening for our program as we finished undefeated and won the inaugural season in the new conference,” Mendon coach Caleb Stephenson said.
The Hornets (25-1) went 8-0 in the league. The conference tournament is scheduled for Saturday at Eau Claire. “Moving into Saturday’s conference tournament we opted to rest some bodies once again, looking to prepare for a push in the postseason.
Individual match results were not reported.
White Pigeon wins pair of Southwest 10 matches

With most matches being forfeited by its opponents, the White Pigeon varsity wrestling team beat Eau Claire 63-18 and Bangor 58-15 Wednesday evening.
Austin Raymond pinned Bangor’s Dylan Little in 1:02 at 103 pounds, Lincoln Strawser (119) earned a major decision against Jose Gallegos, Kyle Black (135) pinned Rolando Munoz in 40 seconds, and Nate Weber (140) pinned Dylan Potter in 16 seconds.
Against Eau Claire, Raymond won his by decision at 103, Bruno Martinez (112) pinned Alecksei Berget in the opening minute, 215-pounder Dominic Solis won by fall in the second period against Dwain Butler and heavyweight Kobie DeBruine picked up a pin in 1:27 over Germaine Jones.
Portage Central tops rival Portage Northern
In Wednesday’s city rivalry match, the Portage Central varsity team claimed a 42-28 victory over Portage Northern.
The Mustangs benefited from a forfeit at 285 pounds to start the night, but Portage Northern would take the next two weight classes. Jarad Lovell pinned Portage Central’s Brayden Fuller in 1:40 at 103 pounds, then Dominique Maestas earned a 14-0 major decision over Drew Fuller at 112.
The Mustangs bounced back with a major at 119 when Jacob Hernandez beat Cameron Miglacciio, and a pin by 125-pounder Brayden Ramnarine against Amar Khajara.
Going back and forth over the next four matches, P-Northern’s Gabe Soto had a quick pin in the first period at 130, Portage Central’s Garrett Stace (135) beat David Lopez by fall in the second period, the Huskies’ William Prowse pinned Jon Esposito in the opening minute at 140, and Portage Central’s Evan Werner pinned Keegan Russell in 2:43 in the 145-pound match.
Portage Central started to put the match away with a 3-2 decision by Joey Quertermus against Mitchell Derhammer at 152, then the Mustangs’ Cody Stewart beat Alex Cox by technical fall at 171, and Connor Warner defeated Bradley Freemire by way of pin in 1:38 at 215.
Portage Northern’s Tyonne Caper beat Logan Stuckhardt 7-6 at 160, and Jimmy Calhoun came away with a 6-4 decision over Ryan Dotson at 189.
Colon competes at Lakeview
In a non-league match Wednesday, the host Battle Creek Lakeview Spartans defeated Colon 78-6.
Ian Eells was the lone winner for the Magi after pinning Cristian Flores Camarena at 145 (time not reported).

Constantine wins pair of matches on Senior Night
The outgoing Falcons seniors had a night to remember Tuesday as Constantine defeated Climax-Scotts/Martin 57-24 and beat Delton-Kellogg 51-27.
“I am so very proud of the way the team wrestled tonight for the seniors at there last home duals of there careers,” Constantine coach Dale Davidhizar said. “I can’t say enough about our seniors Jack Jones, Devyn Begley, Roy Solis, Makayla Bowen, Andrew Carper, Kameron Nusbaum, and Jacob Shoesmith. They have poured there hearts into this season and are doing the best they can to finish their seasons off right.
Begley (112, 119), Harrison (125), Gage Ensign (130), Nusbaum (135), Solis (140), Jones (145, 152), Carper (160) and Boe Eckman (171) all won both their matches for the Falcons.
