Constantine sophomore Cassie McNamara, our Safety Glasses USA Girls Track Athlete of the Week for St. Joseph County, showed last week she is ready for the upcoming regional meet.
Tuesday at the Southwestern Athletic Conference Valley Division Championship at Delton, McNamara won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.36 seconds. In the 300 hurdles, she edged Kalamazoo Christian’s Jaxsen Meldrum by just over a tenth of a second for the victory in 50.23.
At the same event, McNamara helped the Falcons’ 4×200 relay team, which also included Alexis Dull, Paulina Diaz and Mackenzi Dobosiewicz, to a runner-up finish in 1:54.30. The same quartet was second in the 4×400 relay (4:26.64) to end the night and place Constantine fifth overall in the team standings.
Friday at the Constantine Invite, McNamara won the 100 with a personal record of 17.11. She was second in the 200 (27.50). Again, she joined Dull, Diaz and Dobosiewicz for second place in the 4×200 (1:53.47).
