Drew Deaton was locked in from long range to help the Quincy Orioles defeat Centreville Wednesday 61-50 at Homer High School in a Class C district semifinal game.
With a trio of 3-pointers in the first quarter, Deaton went on to hit five triples and finish with a game-high 21 points. The Orioles got out to a 17-10 lead through the first quarter and headed to the locker room at halftime with a 34-25 advantage.
William Dunn registered 20 points for Quincy. Hayden Stauffer led Centreville with 20 points, Nick Weber had three treys en route to 13, Trenton Kindig added 20, and Ross Hunter, McClain Lemings and Sam Todd each chipped in three for the Bulldogs.
“We played to win the game and I am proud of my players for keeping their head in the game and persevering for all four quarters,” Centreville coach Mike Hunter said. “The officials made it tough on us to play the game that we had prepared for and unfortunately it resulted in a loss.”
