The Glen Oaks Community College men’s basketball team dropped a 79-62 home contest Thursday to Oakland.
Elijah Malik scored a team-high 14 points to go with five rebounds for the Vikings in the loss. Glen Oaks slipped to 3-8 overall.
White Pigeon product David Miller produced 11 points and 10 boards, and Mike Barnfield finished with 12 points and four rebounds for GOCC.
The Vikings led 23-18 with about 5 minutes left in the opening half, but the Raiders would close the half on a 24-7 run, and they would never look back.
“We did not play with the energy we expect our guys to play with,” Glen Oaks coach David Victor said. “(Oakland) set the tone, and we didn’t match it. They outplayed us in every facet of the game, and we have to be better. We have to hold ourselves accountable, and through that accountability, take the steps necessary to become better basketball players and teammates.”
The Vikings open MCCAA Western Conference play on January 4 at Kalamazoo Valley.
Glen Oaks’ women’s game at Lakeland was not reported.
