The Mendon varsity boys basketball team defeated host Centreville 47-26 Thursday in a Southwest 10 Conference game.
Keaton Crotser was a problem for the Bulldogs all night as the Mendon senior finished with 22 points, which included three 3-point baskets. Lukas Crotser had eight points, Hunter Lovell scored five, and Cole Decker and Chris Holder both had four. Corbin Weinberg and Tommy Yueng each added two for the Hornets.
Centreville actually led 8-6 after the first quarter before the Hornets outscored the Bulldogs 12-9 in the second frame for an 18-17 halftime advantage.
“We played better than previous games but had mental lapses on defense that allowed them to get a lead that we couldn’t make up,” Centreville coach Mike Hunter said. “Costly turnovers in the second half hurt are offense and again allowed them to increase the lead to preserve the win.”
Hayden Stauffer led Centreville with 13 points, Kyzer Bowen and Ross Hunter each finished with four, Trenton Kindig and Sam Todd scored two apiece and McClain Lemings hit a free throw.
