With 20 field goals in the paint Wednesday, the Kalamazoo Christian boys basketball team got plenty of high-percentage looks and made them count in a 66-43 victory over Kalamazoo Lakeside Academy in Class C district semifinal competiton at Bangor.
The Comets booked a date with rival Hackett Catholic Prep in Friday’s championship game at Gobles at 7 p.m.
Elliot Lemmer and Jordan Katje poured in 18 points apiece for K-Christian. Both Sean Cummings and Noah DeJong had eight, Colin Sikkenga finished with six, Elijah DeVries and Ben Terpstra had three, and Adam Ritsema chipped in two.
Kalamazoo Lakeside statistics were not reported.
DeJong and Lemmer each buried a pair of 3-pointers for the Comets, Katje led the team with eight rebounds and five assists, Cummings and DeJong registered three steals each, and Ritsema had a block.
Kalamazoo Christian won both its regular-season games against Hackett — a 58-38 win on Feb. 16 and a 67-50 win on Jan. 12.
