Kalamazoo Christian opened SAC Valley baseball play Thursday with a 10-3 road win over Schoolcraft. Game two of the scheduled doubleheader was suspended due to darkness with the Comets leading 2-0 in the top of the third inning.
The Eagles scored the first run of the evening in exciting fashion as Austin Edwards successfully stole home in the bottom of the second inning. K-Christian claimed the lead in the top of the third with three runs on two hits, a walk, and a hit batsmen. Schoolcraft scored single runs later in the third and sixth innings, whereas the Comets plated another three in the fifth and two in both the sixth and seventh.
Michael Moralez was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs in three innings. He also added three hits, three RBI, and two runs in his spot. Elliott Lemmer finished the final four innings for the save. Travis Pease also tallied three hits for two runs and two RBI.

Kalamazoo Christian jumped ahead in the second game with two runs on four hits in the top of the first inning. When the game was stopped, the Comets had runners on first and second with two outs in the top of the third. They will resume and finish the game at a date to be determined.
K-Christian sits at 1-1-1 following Thursday’s win with Schoolcraft dropping to 2-2. The Comets return to action at home against Fennville Monday. The Eagles host Saugatuck Monday.
Over at the softball diamond, Schoolcraft completed a home sweep over Kalamazoo Christian. The Eagles took the first game 11-4, followed by a 7-2 win after six innings in game two. Between the two games, Kelby Goldschmeding had six hits and seven RBI for Schoolcraft. Lydia Goble put together five hits, three runs, and six RBI.
