Kalamazoo Central 3, St. Joe 2
Kalamazoo Central held off a seventh-inning rally, escaping with a 3-2 win over St. Joe in the first game of a Thursday doubleheader.
Lukas Bolton got the win for the Giants after throwing five strong innings, allowing no runs on only two hits. Bolton finished with four strikeouts.
The game was scoreless until Kalamazoo Central got on the board in the bottom half of the fourth inning on a run from Brooks Hemingway.
The two teams only combined for six hits, with no individual player accounting for more than one hit. Hemingway and Hilario DeLaPaz had one RBI each.

Kalamazoo Central 17, St. Joe 1
After pitching ruled game one of the doubleheader, the bats woke up for Kalamazoo Central in game two. The Giants broke out with six runs in the first inning, and four more in the second inning, coming away with a 17-1 rout of St. Joe in four innings.
Hilario DeLaPaz had a big day for the Giants, with a 4-for-4 day at the plate, scoring four runs. DeLaPaz also swiped three bases for Kalamazoo Central. In a short stint on the mound, DeLaPaz picked up the win, throwing three innings of two-hit ball, allowing just one run. DeLaPaz struck out five batters.
Brooks Hemingway and Hunter Tanner both went 2-for-2 from the plate, and both drove in three runs. Jack Uekert drove in a pair of runs, as did Christopher Strunk.
