The Glen Oaks Vikings Men’s Basketball team (2-2) defeated visiting Andrews University 84-55 Thursday evening at the Ken Schuler Court.
The Vikings defense was stifling, allowing only 22 points in the first half, while exploding for 45 to take a 23 point lead into halftime.
“Obviously there are some things we’d like to clean up, but any time you can hold a team to under 60 points, you have to be happy” said Head Coach David Victor.
“We moved the ball really well against their D. We didn’t settle for shots, we shared the basketball. We did a lot of things really well, and I’m extremely happy with tonight’s performance. This is definitely a game we can build on.”
The Vikings were led by Elijah Malik (Springfield, IL) with a career high 27 points and 6 rebounds, while Jaquantay Rouser (Pontiac, MI) added 16 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals. David Miller (White Pigeon, MI) posted his second straight double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Mike Barnfield (Ft. Wayne, IN) came off the bench to post 12 points, and Jaylin Fowler (Ft. Wayne, IN) added 11 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals.
The Vikings will next be in action this Saturday, November 18, when they travel to Joliet, IL to take on the #8 in NJCAA D-3 preseason ranked Wolves of Joliet Junior College. The Glen Oaks Women’s Basketball Team will play at 2:00 EST and the Men will follow at 4:00 EST.
