Danville Area defeated Glen Oaks Community College 99-73 Saturday in men’s basketball.
The Vikings saw a halftime lead disappear thanks to a stellar shooting performance by one of the top teams in the country Saturday afternoon, as the Vikings fell to the host Danville Area Community College Jaguars 99-73. The Vikings and Jaguars would trade buckets, and leads, throughout most of the first half, with the Vikings taking the lead into halftime at 38-36.
The Vikings would come out and expand that lead in the early seconds of the second half, but Danville would answer, and the Vikings could not respond.
“We executed our offense much better tonight, in terms of getting the shots that we wanted, and making those shots. The problem was they made more, and those made buckets were 3s” Glen Oaks coach David Victor said.
“If we can match their shooting from 3, or prevent them from making as many as they did, and not turn the ball over as much, this is an entirely different ballgame. I was pleased with the effort. I was really pleased with the shooting and shot selection. We shot 58 percent from the floor. In most games, that is good enough to win. We have to find ways to win when it’s not ‘most games.'”
The Vikings were led by David Miller (White Pigeon) who tallied 35 points on 16-of-20 shooting to go with 11 rebounds. Kal-El Spencer (Kalamazoo) was the only other Viking to post double-digit scoring, with 10 points. Glen Oaks will have some time off to take their final exams, and they will be back in action on Monday, December 18, when they travel to Macomb Community College as part of a double-header vs. the Monarchs.
