Constantine had no answer for Anthony Wade Friday night as the Waterlivet quarterback passed and ran for nine of the Panthers’ 10 touchdowns, amassing 526 yards of total offense en route to a 68-24 win over the Falcons.
Wade, who ran for 213 yards, began the scoring with TD runs from 9 and 11 yards out to give the No. 5-ranked Panthers (7-0) a quick 16-0 lead in the first, before later adding scoring runs from 14, 43 and 20 yards, and passing touchdowns of 81, 42, 20 and 30 yards as part of a 13-of-18, 313 yard throwing effort.
Hunter Lindbert, who led the Falcons (3-3) with 152 yards rushing on 12 carries, scored from 11 yards out to cut the early lead to 16-6, but Constantine simply could not keep up as the Falcons offense mustered only 12 first downs, compared to Waterlivet’s 27. Constantine converted just 1-of-10 third down attempts on the night, while the Panthers moved the sticks on 9-of-10 third down tries.
Josh Lawson scored twice for the Falcons, both times in the second quarter, as he hauled in a 37-yard Nolan Malcom (5-12, 62 yards) pass and ran one in from 82 yards out before Constantine headed to the locker room, down 56-24 at the break. Dawson Kiess, who finished with 54 yards rushing on the night, ran in a 5-yard score in the first quarter round out the scoring for the Falcons. Brendan Schragg added 41 yards on the ground for the Falcons on six carries.
Marquise Wykle led the Constantine defense with 10 stops, including one sack, as Mitchell Bowdish registered six tackles and Malcom had five.
