Constantine’s softball team took two out of three games in the Blazer Invitational at Kalkaska on Saturday.
The Falcons fell to eventual tournament champions Kalkaska, 9-7, in the first game, but came back for an 18-0 victory over Charleviox and a 9-1 win over Fraser.
If it wasn’t for a five-run fifth inning allowed by the Falcons, they could have won the first game. After taking a 5-0 lead after the second inning, the host Blazers scored one in the third, three in the fourth and five in the fifth for a 9-5 lead. Constantine added two runs in the fifth inning.
Kim Maddox led the Falcons with a single and a double, driving in four runs. Kallie Sears had a single and a home run, adding two RBIs. Brianna Herrick and Mercedes Cole each had a single hit. Macey Tulley drove in a run.
Emily Mallo took the pitching loss.
Constantine just kept hitting and hitting and scoring and scoring against Charlevoix in the second game. The Falcons also got a nifty one-hit shutout from Mallo, who also had two singles.
Cole had three singles and drove in three runs, Maddox had a double, Sears two singles, Trasandra Ragsdale two singles and three RBIs and Tulley, Brianna Herrick and Madison Schulte each had one hit. Schulte drove in a pair of runs.
Constantine scored twice in the first, added six in the second and 10 in the third.
The Falcons started off with a bang in the third game, too, getting five in the first and three in the second before closing out the scoring with a single run in the fourth. The team had 10 hits and winning pitcher Cole held Fraser to one run on two hits, striking out 10 and walking only one.
Herrick had a home run and a double, driving in three runs. Maddox added two singles and a home run as she drove in two runs. Ragsdale also drove in two runs with a double.
Kloe Pettit had a single and a double. Sears and Tulley both had singles in the victory.
