Finishing strong in the fourth quarter, the Colon varsity girls basketball team defeated Litchfield 46-35 Friday night in a Southern Central Athletic Association game.
The Lady Magi led by only a bucket after both the first and second quarter and took a 28-24 lead into the fourth quarter, where they outscored Litchfield 18-10 the rest of the way.
“This was a hard fought victory for the Ladi Magi. Litchfield is a very big physical team and we didn’t back down,” said Colon coach Robbie Hattan, whose squad improved to 1-1. “There was a combined 53 fouls called. We knew they were going to be big, probably one of the bigger teams in the conference, so our game plan was to take it to them and hopefully get their bigs into some foul trouble.
“Big props to our girls for finding that killer instinct in the 4th quarter and putting this game out of reach.”
