Centreville regrouped from a 4-3 walk-off loss at Union City in Game 1 and won the second game, 13-10, Wednesday in a road softball doubleheader.
The Bulldogs held a 2-1 lead heading into the seventh inning. In the home half of the frame, Union City tied the game. It looked as if Centreville might win it in the eighth when Jaeden Blades scored on a Skyler DeMeyer sacrifice to go up 3-2. But with no outs and runners on the corners, a sacrifice fly and a clutch single by Union City scored the tying and game-winning runs.
Emma Russell took the loss for Centreville. She struck out two, walked three and allowed five hits and one earned run. Olivia Deeds had two hits, DeMeyer doubled, and Makenzie Troyer, Joanna Larsen and Kaylee Trattles singled for Centreville. Larsen and Deeds added one RBI apiece.
Centreville (16-5) jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first inning of Game 2 and scored four more runs in the third for a 7-2 advantage. The Bulldogs kept the pressure on with three runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and a final run in the sixth on a total of 12 hits.
Mckenzie Sheteron scattered eight hits and was responsible for four earned runs in the win. She struck out three and walked two.
Deeds was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, DeMeyer (double), Larsen (double) and Sheteron each finished with two hits, and Blades, Troyer and Hannah Rice (double) had a hit. Sheteron and Rice drove in three runs apiece, Larsen had two RBIs and Troyer finished with one. Blades ended the game with three stolen bases.
