It was a lopsided win and a close win for Centreville’s baseball team on Saturday.
The first game was the big win as the Bulldogs topped Parchment, 11-1. The two teams then battled to the end of the second game with Centreville posting a 4-3 victory in a non-league doubleheader.
It didn’t take Centreville very long to dominate the first game as the Bulldogs scored eight runs in the first inning, two more in the second and one in the third. Seth Chiddister gave up just one hit over three innings and Hunter Hutchinson and Chad Spence each hurled an inning to close out the game.
Chiddister only struck out one batter, but he didn’t walk anyone.
The Bulldogs scored their 11 runs on just six hits. Chiddister, Collin Kirby, Brady Reynolds, Antonio Duran, Chad Spence and Chandler Hostetler all had single hits for the Bulldogs. Spence’s hit was a double.
Spence drove in two runs and Chiddister, Kirby, Hostetler, Coletin Gascho, Andrew Stevens and Tyler Carpenter all had single RBIs.
The second game was a whole lot different. Parchment took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second, but Centreville came back with two in the fourth and two more in the fifth for a 4-1 lead. The Panthers tacked on two in the sixth to close the gap.
Stevens, Gascho, Chiddister and Alex Meyer held the Panthers to just two hits.
Centreville had seven hits in the game with Chiddister, Stevens and Brady Reynolds getting doubles and Carpenter, Gascho, Hostetler and Kirby each adding singles. Stevens drove in two runs and Carpenter had the other RBI.
