Camden-Frontier improved to 7-0 Friday with a 60-24 victory over Burr Oak in an 8-Man football contest.
Braxton Hernandez rushed for a 76-yard touchdown and Jake Cole added an 11-yard rushing score for Burr Oak (0-7) in the first quarter. Noah Greene accounted for the final two Bobcats touchdowns — a one-yard run in the third period and a 25-yard run in the fourth.
Hernandez completed 5 of 13 passes for 49 yards with one interception. Greene caught two passes for 13 yards, Dennis Currier had a catch for 34 and Hunter Anderson finished with one reception for two yards. Greene notched 111 rushing yards on 13 carries, Hernandez recorded 105 yards on the ground on four takes and Cole had 30 yards on six carries.
Greene also led the team with 11 tackles, while Currier, Colt Anderson and Hernandez each finished with six.
“It was a much better night for the Bobcats playing tough against an undefeated Camden team,” Burr Oak coach Ryan Stephens said. “Offensively, we were much more consistent than past weeks scoring all throughout the game and had less penalties. Both Noah Greene and Braxton Hernandez had big plays for the Bobcats on the ground and ran hard. The blocking up front was a little better, but still needs to improve.
“Defensively, I thought we tackled much better and penetrated the line of scrimmage. We had several players that matched the physicality of the Redskins offense which kept us in the game mentally. Noah Green led the intensity on the defense with 11 tackles and some big hits blitzing up the middle and flowing to the ball on the outside. Overall, I think we took several steps forward from the last few weeks. We’re looking to end the season winning the last two games against Waldron and Litchfield.”
